Latrobe Health Services receives two Finder health insurance awards for its extras cover
Finder, Australia’s most visited financial comparison site, has awarded Latrobe Health Services two awards as part of its 2023 Health Insurance Awards.
Latrobe Health was the winner in the Comprehensive Extras category and was a highly commended brand in the Basic Extras category.
As part of its awards process, Finder analysed over 400 policies to determine its winners. The policies were ranked based on cost and features.
Finder broke the extras cover awards categories down into 3 tiers: core, medium and comprehensive. We only considered policies for the top category they were eligible for. We then ranked the policies within each tier.

Latrobe Health Services - Core Complete Extras
Latrobe’s Core Complete Extras won the comprehensive extras category because it covers more treatments in the comprehensive category for a lower price than any other policy Finder assessed.
Latrobe Health’s winning policy costs approximately $9 per week for a single and covers all standard extras treatments such as general dental, major dental, orthodontics and optical.
It goes much further than this though. The policy can also cover nutrition, psychology, audiology, speech therapy, health appliances including blood glucose monitors and hearing aids, making it ideal for established families, mature couples and singles.
In addition to these services, it also comes with unlimited emergency ambulance transportation. Unless you live in Tasmania or Queensland, ambulance services are typically not free in Australia.
Latrobe Health Services - Basic Extras
Latrobe Health’s Basic Extras insurance cover also earned a highly commended award in Finder’s basic extras category.
It scored highly because it covers more than other basic extras policies but costs less. Cover starts from approximately $4 a week for a single and it covers general dental, major dental, optical and some allied health services such as physiotherapy, osteopathy, podiatry consultations and chiro.
Keep in mind that waiting periods will apply.
