Connected communities are resilient, healthy communities, and here at Latrobe we recognise that’s good for all of us.

From our heartland in Gippsland, where we were established in 1951, to rural and regional centres throughout the country, we’re here to connect, support and empower our community and our members.

Latrobe is a member-based, not-for-profit health insurer that gives back in good times and bad. It’s why we’re known as the health fund with heart.

Our community program, Connected Communities, responds to community need, focusing on improved access to health services for rural and regional communities in particular, and on the physical and mental health of families in these regions.

We’re also committed to supporting these communities through crisis, such as the 2020 bushfires and the COVID-19 pandemic.

Our community initiatives

Maryvale Private Hospital

We own and operate Maryvale Private Hospital, Gippsland’s only private acute medical and surgical hospital. Established in 1991, Maryvale has cared for more than 44,000 patients in the Gippsland region since its inception. It is a key health hub contributing to education and clinical programs such as diabetic care, cancer services, palliative care, breast care and men’s health.

Partnerships

We partner with health providers to ensure our regional and remote communities have access to medical services otherwise unavailable in the region.

These include the Yallourn North Medical Centre and the Central Gippsland Family Practice.
